Metadata cannot be saved
I want to stack pictures from an Canon R5 format CR3. But saving the result I get the following error: "failed to write image metadata ...CR3 The file contains data of an unknown image type" no matter if I want to save it as a tif or a jpg file.
The picture itself is fine but no metadata are included
But if no EXIF-data about focus, time, aperture and so one are included the whole software is useless for me .
Until now I am using only the 30 days free trial and I would like to buy it, if it works.

Re: Metadata cannot be saved
The simplest solution is to save the results as .dng, then there are no issues and the metadata is transferred to the result file.
Alternatively, this will be solved in the upcoming Helicon Focus 9, and I can give you our current pre-release version, but I recommend just saving to DNG for now.

Re: Metadata cannot be saved
Thank you so much for that very very fast answer. It works! But I need photoshop afterwards to compile to jpg.
When will the next version be released?

Re: Metadata cannot be saved
Soon, as soon as possible. I can't say exactly, there are still a few things we're working on. Probably in one or a few weeks.

No problem, we'll start a new 30 day trial for you, at the time of your choosing.

Re: Metadata cannot be saved
Hello, I just tried Version 9 beta and I think it works well exporting metadata with jpg format. Will version 9 be released soon?
Re: Metadata cannot be saved
Yes, that problem is solved in the version 9, and it is already released - you can download it and use it. There will probably not be a special "release day", we'll just keep updating it. One day we'll remove the "beta" text from the website.
Re: Metadata cannot be saved
Does this mean that 9.0.1 is "released" and out of beta and will supersede Helicon Focus 8.3.11?
Re: Metadata cannot be saved
It will supersede Focus 8, and it is currently in beta. If you're asking when it will out of beta - no idea, really. Depends on how fast we solve the known issues, and how quickly the customers keep finding new ones.

No problem
