I have seen wildly different suggestions for settings both in the main program window and in Preferences. Many of these are in reviews by YouTubers who I don't think know the program that well. Are there any Helicon Focus documents or videos with suggested settings for different kinds of images? At this time I am mostly doing landscapes and want to minimize ghosting around things like cactuses and flowers.
Also, I am trying the v9 beta on Mac and using the right mouse button to pan does not work for me. I do find I can zoom out and then zoom back into the area where my cursor is to move around.
Is there documentation for Preference settings?
Re: Is there documentation for Preference settings?
Zoom and pan on Mac should currently work with the touchpad/touch mouse, we'll fix support for a regular mouse soon.
As for the rendering settings, there really is no universal answer. We have this overview, but even this can be misleading and not helpful. Two stacks can have identically looking artifacts (e. g. halo) for different reasons, and it would be fixed by different combination of parameters. There is no substitute to rendering with different combinations, and it's often impossible to predict which will work best. For example, the article I linked says: "Increasing radius can help get rid of or minimize halo", and sometimes it's the opposite - reducing radius reduces the halo. Don't think about it, just try 5-10 different combinations (e. g. low/middle/high value for both R and S, that's 3*3 = 9 combinations).
Remember that you can queue up another stack without waiting for the previous render to finish.

Re: Is there documentation for Preference settings?
That's a lot of changes to keep track of and click "Render". It would be very useful if there was a script option that would generate 9 results without setting parameters 9 times.
BTW, for simpler images I often find the default works just fine for my uses, but when there is a problem image generating numerous results for comparison automatically would be very helpful!

Re: Is there documentation for Preference settings?
Yes, it's on the to-do list as well. We will need to finalize the existing functionality of the new Helicon Focus 9 first, but it is one of the things we want to do next.
Re: Is there documentation for Preference settings?
Thank you Catherine, that's great to hear.
I tested 9.01 and I look forward to the final release.
