I'm not sure if this request is feasible, but I find it interesting in relation to my work.
It is common to work with subjects that have very dark (or very light) areas, and during the retouching phase using substacks, it can be difficult to determine whether there are features worth highlighting.
Would it be possible to implement the ability to adjust contrast and exposure on the image in order to assess the presence of "hidden" structures and reproduce them correctly in the final output using the retouching tools? Adjusting these parameters would be intended solely for viewing and/or analyzing each image or substacks during the retouching phase.
When working in 16-bit format (.dng or .tiff), the post-processing workflow, in Camera Raw or other software, would then be used to finalize the image.
