Having recently acquired an A7IV I wanted to try it with Helicon Remote but simply cannot get it to connect. I have checked all the required settings multiple times but it just does not work. If I change the remote connection mode to MTP the camera connects to Helicon Remote but this does not allow control of the camera. When I connect the camera to Imaging Edge the camera connects correctly using the Remote Shooting Mode. When I plug the USB cable into the USBC port the small Remote Connection Error icon appears on the camera LCD screen. The camera also has problems connecting to Lightroom Tether. Does anyone have a solution for this problem. Thanks. Martin
Just to add that my Sony A7IV firmware is at 6.02 and Helicon Remote at 4.5.9.
And, I just tried the MTP setting to see what would happen.

Re: A7IV Remote Connect
I am in the same situation. I was originally intending to add a license for the Android app version of Helicon Remote, but I am unable to get the desktop version to connect using USB or WiFi. I have tried every suggestion in the forum I can find and I am still unable to connect. I too would welcome any news of an update that could resolve the issue.

Send a bug report with the camera plugged in: menu - Help - Report a bug.
Before that: make sure the USB mode is set to "PC Remote" in the camera body settings, and Wi-Fi as well as any other wireless options is OFF. Otherwise it will never connect. We only support USB connection with Sony cameras.

Re: A7IV Remote Connect
I am writing to let you know that this issue has been resolved. I met with a Sony representative this morning at a local photography event. I explained the problem to him and he consulted one of his technical support team for advice.
The problem with Helicon Remote and other software connecting to the Sony A7IV was due to the installation of the Sony Imagine Edge Software. Despite not being in use, the software must be hogging the remote connection. Once this application was uninstalled, Helicon Remote recognised the camera immediately.

Re: A7IV Remote Connect
I received an email from Alex who is one of the Helicon Soft Developers and he suggested that the Sony software installed its own non-standard driver. When I went to the Device Manager and plugged in the camera, sure enough the driver was listed under its own category of libusbK. Un-installing the device and driver removed the problem and the Helicon Remote software was able to detect the camera and operate it remotely. The Sony Imaging Edge software was also able to detect and operate the camera as normal. So the only cause of all this grief is the non-standard USB driver that Sony installs with the Imaging Edge software.
