I am shooting remote with a Canon R5 using wifi.
Using the camera focus bracketing menu is very fast. I would estimate that 25 shots takes less than 10 seconds.
One reason I am considering Helicon Remote for purchase is because the bracketing allows me to choose the start and end points.
I just want to be sure I am not doing something wrong. I am getting 5 or more seconds between each shot.
Is that to be expected?
Thanks,

Re: Time to shoot a focus bracket
Yes, that is normal. The firmware has low-level access to all the camera hardware and other firmware functions. The software has to use the specific communication protocol with its limitations, it can never be as fast as the firmware. You can get a small improvement by changing the saving mode to "leave in the camera" (menu - File - Preferences - Saving - Raw/JPEG saving mode).
You can also go to the Canon tab in the settings and change the pause after focus movement to 100 ms or even 80 ms. 80 should work fine, but be careful, if the pause is too short your focus movement will be shorter than they should be, leading to incorrect stacks (without warning, as it's not detectable by the software).
