Frequent hangs and crashes in batch mode

Batch mode is central to my workflow. I typically load several thousand images off my memory card, then use auto split to divide the images into stacks ( typically 20 - 50 stacks ). I'm using Raw to DNG.
Then I render them with some initial default settings, delete some (most) output images, and re-render others with different parameters and sometimes a crop rectangle.
Next, I retouch the images I want to keep from input source files and from other (corresponding) output files.
Finally, I save the handful of "keep" images to disk for the next step.
The problem is, in a high percentage of cases Helicon crashes or hangs before I can complete this final step and I lose everything. When Helicon hangs ("Not responding" in the title bar), Windows 11 Pro has a very hard time shutting it down (whether Windows UI, Task Manager, or Reboot), it either takes a very long time and eventually shuts down, or takes so long that I lose patience and have to hard reset my laptop.
Sometimes, there is a precursor to crashing when I attempt to retouch one output image using another and the output image dropdown is empty even though there is a suitable image in the output list. It usually crashes soon after if that happens.
Please let me know what info I can provide to help make this more stable. Memory cache limit is set at 40%. I'm probably stressing this program more than the average person, but the way that I'm using it is really the way I need it to work. Thanks!
