errmsg: "Failed to create dng file"

Hello Helicon Soft team,
I'm getting a strange errmsg that I've not seen before...although as best I know I'm nothing differently from many dozens of prior very successful HF macro stacks.
The errmsg is "Load image error: Failed to create dng file from raw using Adobe Converter"
I -do- have Adobe Converter installed...in fact I just re-installed it to be certain:)
I -am- attempting stack a larger number of .nef files than typical. This is a deep insect stack that I'm shooting with a Laowa 2.5-5x macro at f2.8...I want a large f-stop to keep diffracton down...i'm shooting on my Stackshot+Z7 at 7mu steps..so the stack is about 700 files.
I've had no issues in the past with stacks of 500+/- .nef files.
Is there a max file limit that I'm hitting?
Or is something else going on?
I've rebooted a few times--issue persists.
I'm a Pro lifetime HF licensee.

No, there is no max limit other than the amount of free RAM.
