Nikon z50_2 is an unsupported camera model

Post by clemens »

I was using Helicon Remote with my Nikon D850 and my Nikon Zfc without any problemes. Now I bought a Nikon Z50II, but I can´t connect it to Helicon Remote. I always get the error message: "z50_2 is an unsupported camera model". But when I look in the list of supported cameras on the Helicon Remote site, the Z50II is listed there. My version of the Program is 4.5.3.W, so it´s up to date.

Is there anything in the menus what I have to change?

Hi Clemens,

Please download the latest version from our website: https://www.heliconsoft.com/downloads/HeliconRemote.exe
The list of supported cameras corresponds to the latest version, and yours is an older one that doesn't know about this camera.

Thank´s for this hint, I will try it today. Until now I only looked in the program under help/check for updates and there I was told that I´m up to date. I will let you know if it works.

Hi Catherine,
I´m now on version 4.5.7.W and indeed, something changed. I don´t get the mentioned error message anymore when I connect the new camera, but that´s it. Helicon Remote doesn´t see the connected camera, it looks the same as there was no camera connected.

I tried several times with first connecting the camera and then starting Helicon Remote, as well as connecting the camera when Helicon Remote is already running. When I connect my Zfc it appears immediately in Helicon Remote.

Found it - Cameras USB mode has to stand on MTP/PTO. My camera was on UVC/UAC and with this setting one won´t get a connection to Helicon Remote. Now, with MTP/PTP everything is perfect.

Thanks for the hint with the new version.

Happy to hear it works now, and thank you for this information. We didn't realize Nikon added this setting, for the longest time Nikon cameras had no USB mode settings.
