Batch Processing RAW files with latest Adobe DNG converter

Post by john80504 »

Hi,

I am attempting to Batch process my CR3 files produced by my Canon R5 camera. I have the latest version of the Adobe DNG converter installed on my system as of Nov. 2025. When I start the Split Stack function it give me an error "The file contains an unknown image type." There is a pop up window "Reading Exif data" and it seems to be locked up as the progress bar never starts moving.

However, if I use File>Open Images and load a single stack set it loads them fine and I am able to render the single set.

It seems that only the Batch Processor has an issue with the CR3 files. Any suggestions?

Hi,
It's not a problem with the "Batch process" tool per se, you can add multiple folders/stacks and queue up multiple stacks as usual. It's only a problem with the "Split stack" function. It's currently impossible to read metadata from CR3 files, so it doesn't work. A workaround is to convert your raw files to DNG. Either export them as DNG from Lightroom or Capture One if you have that software, or use the Adobe DNG converter application, it can batch-convert all files in a folder.

This will be solved in Helicon Focus 9 that will be released soon (but I don't have the exact date yet, we're still polishing it).
