D7100 Remote freezes

I am using a D7100 Nikon with 105 D Nikon lens. I am set on manual, . I updated to version 4.5.9W
I can take maybe 9 pictures then remote freezes. Sometimes I take only 2 pictures and the Ihave to reboot the computer.
Any ideas to what might be causing the conflict.still on Windows 10, no other programs running

I am having the exact same problem with a Canon D5 Mark IV. Connection to the camera is ok, preview is functioning, and focus can be set. Unfortunately, at some point, shooting freezes, and the connection doesn't work anymore. I had to restart, set up focus points again, and try to reshoot, fingers crossed not to get the "icy" moment. I tried multiple option settings... nothing works. The app freezes, sometimes I can shoot 2 or 3 times, sometimes not one. Thank you!
