i use the 2.0.16.w and it works fine.
But updating Helicon focus is useless for me because all versions of remote beyond the 2.0.16.w don´t work.
They don´t recognize the EOS1000d nor the stackshot rail and are completly useless.

From what i've seen this is a usless program. After I cool down a bit I'll send another post.
It seems this software was far from ready for release, but maybe Helicon needs the cash!

Please make sure that you are testing the latest version (2.2.5.w). Many bugs in the program are due to Canon SDK we are using. We are preparing new version with direct access to the camera which should be more robust.

Re: versions beyond 2.0.16.w
I also tried this version but 2.0.16.w is the latest version which works.
It recognizes the EOS1000D and the rail and works fine as the Canon software does.
The newer versions don´t recognize camera nor rail.
Is it possible, that a DLL or so is not installed by the installer but is existent on your developer machines, so it works in your environment but not on the customers ones? Or the wrong version and you also have the right one on your computer?
It´s strange, because the older versions worked and the newer are perfectly useless.

Re: versions beyond 2.0.16.w
This really is agravating. I can get great shots and the program works great sitting in my family room. Beatiful photos of stuff I fished out of the trash. Go packing into the woods with 40 pounds of equipment and do you think this program works? It freezes or focuses backwards towards the camera so the last shot is a big blob.
I have two versions loaded on my computer, one with a patch installed so my camera is recognized and another so that Helicon Focus will work since it won't with the patch installed.
I quit for now. I've spent hours trying every combination of settings to see what works and doesn't only to wind up next to a swamp getting chewed alive by insects trying to make this work. No more sleepless nights from all the bites for me.

Re: versions beyond 2.0.16.w
Sorry for the inconvinience. We have buggy foundation (manufacturer's SDK and camera firmware). So we have rebuilt the internals of the program several times to avoid known traps and often got into new ones. I can only suggest to use older version if it works for you and wait for the new versions if you have troubles.

Where can I get older versions? I don't see them listed on your download page.

Re: versions beyond 2.0.16.w
Currently i use the newest version of helicon focus with the HeliconRemote.exe 2.0.16.w and the raw.dll of focus version 5.1.29.
You can copy these 2 files from the old version to the program folder of the new version after deleting the new HeliconRemote.exe there.
Seems to be a good workaround.
But i´m not shure, wether the problem really comes from Canon because also the StackShot doesen´t work with the new versions.

Thanks for the remark about StackShot.
