Re: helicon remote vs stackshot controller for deep stacks?

hi gluggo... i decided it was not necessary to use helicon remote on a laptop to control stackshot. instead i have using a camranger2 talking with an ipad pro.. so i can see exactly where my in/out points are on my stack..on a nice big ipad screen... and move the rail with the stackshot controller.

Re: How to determine the optimal interval size

interesting post and helpful info. question: in extreme macro work, -effective- f-stops can be quite large... i.e. if you’re using extension tubes, large magnifications etc, stopping down can put you into the f45, f64 range, which is well into diffraction territory. for this reason, tho my setup is ...

Re: helicon remote vs stackshot controller for deep stacks?

update. despite multiple days of fiddling... i cannot get my windows 10 system running helicon remote... to move the carriage on my stackshot. stackshot controller LCD reads "PC control"... i'm all wired up right... i can manually fire off shots via helicon... but i cannot set inpoints/outpoints...n...

Re: .jpg vs .raw workflow question

hey appreciate the info bob...makes a lot of sense.
i prolly will need to beef up my computing infrastructure if i start running deep 50 meg .nef image stacks thru HF...
my poor little core i5 is struggling a bit.
thanks for the guidance.

.jpg vs .raw workflow question

I am currently shooting deep stacks in .raw (nikon .nef actually)... then batch processing the .raw images in PS, then converting the images to .jpg, before handing the stack over to helicon focus. is there any workflow advantage that i'm missing... to having helicon process .raw images vs .jpg? as ...

Helicon Remote for Z7 and iPad

Hi Catherine, Perhaps I've missed it in this forum, and apologies if so. But is there a Helicon Remote beta available that supports the Nikon Z7, running on an iPad Pro? (For me, and perhaps others as well, tethered would be fine vs WiFi.) That combination (along with my Stackshot) would be Nirvana ...

helicon remote vs stackshot controller for deep stacks?

i am taking delivery shortly on a stackshot... and plan on making stacks 100+ deep with my nikon z7 + laowa 25mm 2.5-5x macro. i’m completely familiar with helicon focus and remote... tho not at all (yet) with stackshot HW and SW. question: am i better controlling my camera stepping and stack creati...

i did not see the Z7 listed among supported cameras...

z7 support

sorry if i’ve missed this on the forum...not seeing it anywhere obvious... but does helicon remote support.. or will it likely... the nikon z7? i’m taking delivery of stackshot shortly...and tho i don’t absolutely -need- helicon for macrophotography using stackshot... it would obviously be very nice...

Re: Shooting the moon: Simple question

hi bob, thanks for jumping in... yes, i realize that what i'm trying to do is outside the intended scope of what helicon is designed to do...and does extremely well:) i just noticed another user successfully creating image stacks in this way, and thought i'd take it out for a spin. and in fact, it w...

Shooting the moon: Simple question

starting1990.jpg advice please:) i am using helicon focus to stack multiple moon images into a single frame. see attachment. however i am finding that if the moons in the separate images are too -close- (i used a 2-minute inter-frame interval for the attached)... helicon focus tries to overlay all ...

hi catherine not to pile on or pester:)... but any chance of Z7 support this year? i’m a for-life helicon licensee, you’ve obviously got terrific SW... it would be extremely helpful to be able to use your product on my expanding Z system. thanks for any, well, encouragement, you could offer your Z c...

Re: Help! Issue with setting near and far points

stas...i appreciate your quick reply. i was trying all kinds of troubleshooting. but the issue seems to have gone away after i moved the nikkor 105's focus limiter slide switch from (infinity-.5m) to (FULL). i'm not sure why that would matter. (i was experiencing the same issue on my older AF micro ...
